What is HTML?
HTML stands for “HyperText Markup Language”.
In short, HTML is the language that is used to create HTML documents (web pages). It is comprised of Tags and Elements that look a bit like this – “<tagname> content </tagname>”.
The Tags determine how the content of the HTML page is to be presented/displayed to the website user.
The Elements are effectively the content that is presented / displayed.
The current version of HTML is HTML5 and if you are looking for online HTML classes you should ensure that the course content is fully up to date.
Do I need to learn HTML?
I created this website (and 2 others) in a couple of weeks without any prior knowledge of CSS or HTML with the help of an online internet marketing community. However, I have had to learn some HTML along the way in order to tweak the websites. If I hadn’t had the support of others along the way it would have been a far more stressful and laborious process.
I like to know how things work and, the more I get involved in web development, the more I want to learn how it all works. I would slo like to become self-reliant and not have to keep bombarding community live chat facilities with basic HTML questions.
The Best Online HTML Classes?
I have searched the internet for good courses. I have decided to steer clear of “monthly subscription” training products for the reasons stated here.
I have watched some YouTube videos and learned some of the basics, but I have decided that it is time to enrol on a comprehensive and properly structured course.
I have signed up for Mark Lassoff’s “HTML and CSS Course for Beginners” for the following reasons:
- It is a comprehensive course designed to teach you HTML from scratch
- The teacher is a very experienced computer programming expert (I have previously purchased his iOS programming course)
- It is fully up to date with HTML5
- There are over 5,000 student enrolled on the course
- It is rated 4.5/5 by the students that have reviewed it
- It also comes with some basic CSS training at the end of the course
- It only costs $49! (just $10 with Discount Code below!)
Buy this course for just $10 here - (expires 11.59 PST on 28th July 2014)
Whilst I think that this is the best course for me, there are some other good looking HTML courses available at Udemy.

If you can follow basic video training and know how to copy and paste, then you will have no problems creating a website for your business or pleasure within 1 day!
The basic course content is summarised in the image below:
